What do we need to achieve effective plurilingualism?

When a L2 wants to introduce as the same level that L1, people aren’t agree at the first time. So, the most important thing that we need to reach the plurilingualism is to prepare our minds for change.

Plurilingualism will contribute to the integration of citizens, their participation, culture and values, allowing them to take on their responsibilities and exercise their rights as members of society. But in Spain, this change in attitude is being very slow. Spanish people not acquire and use the language in different context or in different ways. This is the consequence to learn over this kind of education during years. This is the result of learning a language with a method that has made people not to use the L2 in different contexts and situations.

To sum up, I believe that we need change the methodology learning a L2 to achieve effective plurilingualism. They have to teach how develop and use.

What I think f CLIL?

Unfortunately, I haven’t got this methodology during my school time. Before of this course, I didn’t know anything about CLIL. Now I’ve realized how badly we have been teaching.

From my point of view, it is a good strategy of teaching a language and a subject. Really we need to learn a language to communicate. Earlier the education was centring on knowing a language in all its senses. One was not thinking about why we wanted to know another language. If you’re not studying Philology you don’t need to have a deep knowledge about the language. Therefore with the new CLIL methodology helps to learn a language to the students in a manner more motivating. Also, CLIL develop four C that are important in the learning: content, culture, cognition and communication. However, the other methodologies have not given so much importance to this.

Even in CLIL lessons, it will become apparent that some skills and knowledge are applicable to a wide range of subjects in a variety of languages. Students will gain a healthy appreciation for these types of skills and may be more motivated to improve them. By challenging your students with CLIL, you’ll be able to help them build confidence in their abilities. The best part of this is that their confidence won’t be inflated; the legitimate cognitive and academic skills encouraged by CLIL are widely recognized and valued.

Do you learn better receiving information or explaining?

Many educators believe that the best way of learning is to construct your own knowledge instead of which others construct it you. Many educators believe that the best way to learn is by having students construct their own knowledge. The Constructivist Learning Theory explains that states that learning is an active process of creating meaning from different experiences. Then, students will learn best by trying to make sense of something on their own with the teacher as a guide to help them along the way. Experts show that all sensory input is organized by the person receiving the stimuli. It cannot always be directly transferred from the teacher to the student. This means that a teacher cannot “pour” information into a student’s brain and always expect them to process it and apply it correctly later. This is the reason that you constructed the knowledge for yourself.

CLIL: CONTENT AND LANGUAGE

First of all, we should know the definition about CLIL. It is a methodology which is based on the learning of content and language. But, wchich predominates? Apparently neither of two.

I believe that the contents are predominant over language indirectly. It is allowed, you can speak in the mother tongue when you are talking with your partner. So, not always is important to speak in L2.

In my opinion, this method has the purpose of teaching at the same time to teach other languages other than their mother tongue. It is a way to learn a language without focusing attention on it. It is much more motivating for the student.

What did they have the best teachers that I have had?

It seems stupid to think about it but even the worst teachers teach us something. The first thing I remember about them is the desire to learn. They didn’t teach only. They also wanted to learn from the students.

I remember a teacher in particular who was the one that guided me in my studies. It was a great model to follow for your patience, understanding, wisdom, intelligence, etc. She could help you solve any problem that was unrelated to his subject. For her, the first thing in its classes was to educate us like persons, with values and with an attitude of learning continuously.

Lastly, for this and many other things, this teacher has been my example to follow as a future teacher. There were more teachers who taught me things but she was the one who marked my studies.
